Visions Northwest Regional Economic Development Group Conducting "Export Assessment Survey"

The Visions Northwest Regional Economic Development Group has partnered with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and the Northwest WI Manufacturing Outreach Center (NWMOC) to conduct an "Export Assessment Survey".

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) events are scheduled in the counties of Burnett and Washburn this May and June!

Iron County Home Repair Funds Remain Available

Approximately $260,000 remains available to residents in Iron County to assist in the rehabilitation of owner-occupied and renter-occupied housing units.

The funds are available to income-eligible clients for housing repair or replacement to windows, exterior doors, shingles, siding, insulation, furnaces, wiring, plumbing and other major home repairs.

Trade Lake Area Recycling Changes

The Recycling Control Commission’s recycling bin located at the Trade Lake Town Garage will be relocated to the area inside the Town Garage security fence effective November 3, 2012.

Residents will only have access to the recycling bin when the town garbage center is open each Saturday from 9:00am-2:00pm.

Visions Northwest Regional Development Group Elects Officers

On July 26, 2012, the “Visions Northwest” Regional Development Group met and held elections. Dale A. Kupczyk, Executive Director of the Ashland Area Development Corporation, was elected to the position as Chairman of “Visions Northwest.”

Iron County Receives Excellence Award for a Planning Document from APA-Wisconsin Chapter

In 2008, Iron County embarked on a multi-phase endeavor to identify inconsistencies between the comprehensive plans of the 10 unincorporated towns and the countywide zoning and subdivision ordinances, adopted in 1971.

City of Spooner adopts Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan

The City of Spooner adopted a Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan at their March, 2012 City Council meeting. The plan has been created to provide a local approach to meeting existing and future needs for expanding pedestrian and bicycle opportunities.
